Ethos Residence

Nestled within the majestic mountains of Brasilito, Guanacaste, Ethos Residence stands as an architectural marvel. This project is a testament to the art of harnessing breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding hills. Positioned within the Guanacaste mountains, this residence offers an extraordinary perspective, encompassing the Pacific Ocean and the encompassing hillsides. The terrain’s topography provides natural seclusion, allowing the house to open up entirely to 360-degree vistas. This refuge seamlessly integrates with the surrounding topography, benefiting from a unique natural privacy that encourages a complete immersion in the natural environment.

Design Concept: Contemporary Tropical Elevation

Ethos Residence’s design embodies the essence of modern tropical architecture. The house gracefully ascends above the embracing natural surroundings, creating a panoramic vantage point for the main living area. This inverted design concept features access through the upper level, which serves as the primary living space, descending gracefully via stairs to the lower level, where additional rooms are nestled.

Design Analysis: Volumetric Harmony with Nature

The residence’s volumetric composition comprises four interconnected volumes. One of these volumes encompasses the social and main living areas of the house, extending itself over the terrain to offer panoramic views and a closer connection to nature for its occupants. This volume connects through a vertical element housing the staircase to a third volume dedicated to service spaces. The fourth and final volume gracefully traverses the primary structure, creating the main entrance and highlighting the pool as a prominent feature. It offers a unique experience, inviting residents to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings, savor breathtaking vistas, and embrace the serenity of nature.

Integrated Sustainability: Utilization of Local Materials

Ethos Residence places a strong emphasis on sustainability, consciously selecting indigenous materials for its outdoor spaces. The incorporation of teak and locally sourced stones takes center stage in the construction of the home’s surroundings. This choice not only respects the environment but also infuses an authentic character into the residence.

Ethos Residence represents a harmonious union where contemporary design gracefully embraces the natural beauty of Costa Rica, striking a perfect balance.
