Project facts
The client asked for independent, private spaces around a large garden. We answered with three separate volumes: an open central one for living, kitchen and dining facing the pool, one for the main bedrooms and one for guest rooms and garage. The garden is planned in sections, with low-water native species at the entrance and sides and a tropical area around the pool.
A blend of colonial modern style and nature. Casa Vida, a modern colonial-style residence, is situated within the prestigious Hacienda Pinilla community: a project that came to life in response to the client’s request for spacious, independent spaces that provide privacy, all centered around the lush surrounding garden.
The residence comprises three separate volumes, each with a unique purpose and character. The central volume houses the living room, kitchen, and dining area in an open floor plan that embraces open living; from here, panoramic views extend along the garden with the pool as the focal point, and the double-height living room offers a partial view of the office above. One volume is dedicated to the main bedrooms, while the other holds the guest rooms and garage.
Landscape, harmony with nature. The garden was considered in sections: the entrance framed by native Guanacaste plants in a predominantly white palette that harmonizes with the house and requires low water use; the sides planted with low-water local species while preserving the site’s natural trees for shade and privacy; and, toward the back, a tropical oasis around the pool and deck, with winding paths, fruit trees, and resting areas that invite you to enjoy the outdoors.
