Reading the site
Akari starts from the climate of Guanacaste, with strong sun and heat for most of the year. The house is set among its own gardens, which give it privacy and keep the air around it fresh, and the design works with the site rather than against it.
Key decision
We opened the house, designed in a contemporary tropical language, onto its gardens and relied on natural light and cross-ventilation for comfort. The layouts are functional and every space is conceived to feel open and breathable, so daily life moves between the interior and the garden, and the outdoors is experienced from inside the house.
