Project facts
MM House is next to Las Baulas Marine National Park, and keeping the site’s existing trees shaped the plan: the volumes sit in the clearings between them. Each room opens to its own private terrace, and a network of pergolas links the areas through the garden.
Where architecture blends with nature. MM House Residence and its guest house are perfectly situated in Playa Grande, Guanacaste, in close proximity to Las Baulas Marine National Park, meticulously conceived as a unique retreat in an exceptional natural setting.
Harmony with the environment. The residence is founded on integration with the surrounding nature: its volumetry creates separate spaces where privacy is paramount, allowing residents to immerse themselves in the nature of the adjacent Natural Park and, at the same time, to get lost in its beauty.
Design concept, embracing nature. The house is characterized by openness and connectivity with the lush tropical vegetation that surrounds it. Each room opens to its own private terrace, and a network of pergolas connects the different areas, providing a pathway that traverses the garden and creates a sense of continuity with the natural environment.
Versatile common spaces & integrated sustainability. Generous, versatile common areas adapt to the region’s changing climate: sheltering through both the dry, hot season and periods of constant rain. A fundamental aspect of the design was preserving the site’s natural trees, taking advantage of the clearings between them to minimize environmental impact.
