Panacea is a breakfast and pool pavilion for a yoga retreat in the mountains of Guanacaste. It opens on all sides to the landscape and the ocean view, so the built space and its surroundings are experienced together.
A 360° building design of a breakfast and pool area for a yoga retreat hidden in the mountains of Guanacaste, with incredible ocean views. The pavilion is conceived to open completely to its surroundings, dissolving the boundary between the built space and the landscape so that every moment of rest is framed by nature.
Reading the site
Panacea sits in the mountains of Guanacaste, hidden from the approach and open to a view of the ocean. The pavilion serves the pool and breakfast area of a yoga retreat, so it is a place of rest, and what guests see from it is part of the programme.
Key decision
We designed a 360° pavilion that opens completely on all sides. There is no main façade and no back: the boundary between the built space and the landscape is removed, so the pool, the breakfast area and the ocean view are experienced as one space, framed by nature at every moment of the day.
