Reading the site
SP House is a garden in Tamarindo, where the long dry season makes water the main limit on any planting. The pool sits at the centre of the outdoor space, and the garden had to frame the living areas around it without depending on heavy irrigation.
Key decision
We planted native plants and trees, selected by César E. Caso, instead of ornamental species that need constant watering, and placed them to frame the outdoor living areas around the pool. The planting does the work of edges and screens while using less water, and the result is a lush tropical garden that settles into its surroundings as it grows.
